Pancake day - Have I left it too late?

Today is Shrove Tuesday...Or Pancake day to the common amongst us. I have known about it for weeks, It is written on all the calendars all over the house but I didn't see a reason to get any ingredients before now.

I am not the best cook in the world and It has only been in the last couple of years that I have been able to make anywhere near decent pancakes myself (I always made sure we visited my sister's house or that I invited her for tea) So you see why I need to buy packet mix and not attempt to make them from scratch with eggs and milk and flour etc....

Anyway, I have been into town this morning and Sainsburys are all out of packet mixes as well as having no Lemons left either. I know there are also loads of fillings you can put on them but in this house it is the traditional sugar and Lemon...and it does have to be real Lemons so that we can then eat what is left of them after we finished the Pancakes.

So next stop Kwik Save (Which I find is closing down on Sunday) They have Lemons YAY!! but no batter mix.

Is it a fact that everyone in Derby is just as lazy as me and can't be bothered to make their own pancakes from scratch? Or maybe the shops just under-estimate the demand and don't order in enough. I can recall that it is exactly the same in Sainsburys every year. You expect a big major Supermarket to be prepared but they never are!!

So I am off on my quest now to try all the local shops to get a packet Batter mix. Failing that then it will just have to be from scratch...so If I am not around, you know I have probably burnt down the whole house in the effort to make the perfect Pancakes

Ugh

Ever wake up feeling like you have been hit by a ten ton truck??
I thought I had got rid of this cold last week but it seems to be back with a vengeance.

Good thing is that at the moment I have a temperature of 202 so at least I am saving on heating.....

Half Term madness

It may seem to some that I have been MIA for the past week. In all honesty, I have been so busy that my feet have hardly touched ground since Saturday...so pull up a chair and a good stiff drink, this is going to be a long one.

SUNDAY
Sunday was my Nephew's birthday. I know that Saturday was the birthday party. For his birthday treat he wanted to go to McDonalds and my sister extended the invitation to anyone who wanted to come.
Now, We are lucky where I live as we are 20 minutes away from McDonalds in town and also 15 minutes away from another McDonalds in the opposite direction. Of course my sister is also 15 minutes away from another branch of the chain, unfortunately this one happens to be miles away from us so it was going to be a day of much walking. When we got to my sister's she said it felt like we had only just gone home (Well actually it was just 8 hours ago) If D's friends hadn't been staying over we could have stayed there saving all the walking...but then what would I have to moan about?!!
It turned out that on this occasion Maccy Dees was a big let down. The whole reason for going was the huge kiddies play area - which they decided that they would have closed this particular Sunday for extensive cleaning. How do you tell a 5 year old that he can't go play when we have trekked all the way out here?
The food was good though. We had between us, loads of money off coupons so it was a much cheaper birthday lunch and we all got what we want....(Including some people who got double - It wasn't me)

After eating, the children decided that they would have a play in the under 3's play area instead.

I also proved something that I had been going on about the night before that friend Z's husband does only speak to me when he is drunk and when he is sober he looks right through me as if I am not there. Not that I mind much, remember it is because of him that we didn't speak for 5 years and it is only recently that we have been trying to put the past behind us.

After all the play options had been exhausted, it was off back to my sister's house as she wanted me to sort out the software for her ipod. She promised me taxi fare home but I wonder if I should remind her that she never came through with the cash.
By the time we got back home it was late and I was knackered. An early night was considered but I just fell asleep on the sofa instead.

MONDAY
Today was Nephew's official party with all of his friends from school. I must say I can't remember having 3 day long birthday celebrations when I was 5 so he is a very lucky boy. So for the 3rd day in a row it was the trek up to my sister's again.
I wasn't as organised today though. I had to go up to the main Post Office first to fetch a parcel that I had missed on the Friday..It was a good plan but I didn't actually roll out of bed until about 12 and the long walk through the park to the Post Office seemed to be twice as long as normal.
I was a bit late returning and by the time we arrived at Tubby Bear's den, the party was in full swing.
I love the Role reversal within A's relationship with B-I-L. She goes out to work 5 days a week so it is him that looks after the house and the kids. He takes Nephew to school everyday so he knows all the friends and their parents. As the kids turned up, A didn't know who was with us and who wasn't whereas B-I-L knew the names of all the kids and which parent went with which child.
I have never been to Tubby Bear's before and it was a bit out of the way (If anyone knows Derby - Great Northern road is definitely a never ending road. It just goes on and on and on) From the outside it looks like just another warehouse in the small industrial park but inside it is a huge climbing frame.
There is a huge slide and swingy things and climbing bits and big soft things that the kids loved to throw at each other, not to mention fight tooth and nail with.
There is also a little baby ball pool that little niece loved playing in. Normally she is very clingy to Mummy but she quite happily played without even looking to see where Mum was.

Even DD and DS had a play but there aren't pictures of that.
After a good hour and a half of play it was time for the food. They have a special little party room where they take the kids for the eating. It was just like going back into an infants class with the little tables and chairs. There was a little buffet spread out with sandwiches; crisps; carrot sticks; Cucumber sticks and raisins. The sandwiches were of the Ham; Cheese and Jam variety. I think that the crisps were the most popular.
DS was all up for joining in the party spirit but at 13, DD preferred to stand with the grown ups.

As well as the fayre on the table already, the Hostesses also brought out chips and pizzas, of which there was plenty to go round and to feed the grown ups too.

I realised why I was so glad that I never had to host a 5 yr olds party again...The children seemed a lot more interested in messing about and throwing the food than actually eating it. There was a lot of food left over at the end which I think they should have offered to wrap up and let my sister take home with her. It is a lot of money to pay to leave all that behind.

The highlight of the day for me was when I saw Tubby Bear himself. My sister gave me a very strange look when I screeched "Oooh Tubby Bear is coming" I don't know what came over me...I didn't think that Tubby himself actually made an appearance.

Nephew's Cake on Saturday night was a Scooby Doo cake. Today was the cake he really wanted which was Power Rangers. The Hostess brought it in and we all sang Happy birthday before the Jelly and Ice Cream was brought out. Things have certainly changed since I was 5 (OK that was a very long time ago) Back then, The Jelly and Ice Cream was the highlight of the party, today only about half of them ate it...which was music to the ears of DS who cleaned up!

Home time came in a flash. It became clear that most of them didn't want to go home as they ran to hide in the play area but eventually they all left with their little party boxes full of goodies.
We finally got home about 8.30 after staying at D's for a while. Knackered again and in need of an early night but desperately wanted to watch Final Destination2. I watched FD1 with my Nan a couple of years ago when she came to stay and now I desperately want to go see FD3 at the pictures. I love the idea of seeing Death and then avoiding it. I did wonder how they were going to capitalize on the story of the plane crash of the first movie and how they could keep it almost interesting. It was actually very good how they connected all the victims of the second movie to the first. My favourite bit was when the guy got chopped into pieces by the barbed wire just after saving the boy from being hit by the truck.

TUESDAY

No rest for the wicked! Today was ten pin bowling with sis A B-I-L and nephew. I didn't really fancy bowling so I said I would go and look after Niece. Good job I did as she wasn't very happy for the most of the time. I guess it isn't very nice having to be strapped into the buggy while everyone else is having so much fun. It really wouldn't have been practical to let her out though as she would have been running up and down the lanes and causing mass havoc.

It was a really fun afternoon. The kids had a great time. DD wasn't too good at first but the more he played the better he got...whereas DD was pretty good to start with and the more she played the worse she seemed to get.

I don't know if you can see on the picture but at one point Nephew was whupping everyone. (Sorry for the blurryness) His score is 117 there.

Bowling these days is a lot different to when we used to go with our parents years ago. Our Mum and Dad were champion Bowlers. They played in a Friday night league and won loads of trophies and county comps. Back then the Bowling Alley was a dirty little place with a few fruit machines and a dirty little greasy caff in the corner where you could get a plate of chips for 50p.
Today they are huge places with disco lights and and pop videos and loud music. I think I spent lots of 20ps in the sweet machines for neice.

After the Bowling was over, Nephew wanted to play pool with Dad.

Treated the kids to Pizza on the way home. Our local pizza place does 12" pizzas for £4.49 each with whatever you want on them so I had Spicy chicken and DD had Onion whilst DS didn't want pizza so had a chicken meal instead.

WEDNESDAY

Today was my day off from activity. I stayed in bed most of the day and when I finally did get up I couldn't get near the computer for the kids being on it. At least I still got to watch me TV shows...Pretender at 3pm on Sci Fi channel and Highlander at 4pm on FX and then back to the Sci Fi Channel at 5pm for Medical investigation

THURSDAY

Today was shopping day. DS got up and met with Sis A to go swimming and DD and I went to ASDA. It is so long since I have been. I don't go too often as it is so far away and the bus fare is a bit much and also I end up buying a bit more than planned and can not carry it all. It cost £5 return bus fare for me and DD which is like I said why I don't go too often. We managed to get quite a few treats as well as the food that I really needed and I spent £25 which was in my budget for the day. That should last us until Tuesday at least.

FRIDAY

Last day of the Half term hols and the dreaded trip into town to get new school bags as both children have knackered theirs. You just knew it would be a tale of going round in circles. We started off with DS having to go to the music shop to get new reeds for his Clarinet as well as a new music book. Luckily he knew what it was he wanted and was able to go and ask while DD and I looked through the sheet music....James Blunt Beautiful anyone????

We did actually visit all the sports shops in town as well as the market and once DD couldn't find one she liked it was back to Sports Soccer to get the one she saw to start with. I also managed to get myself a Will Young Calendar for 69p which has to be a bargain. I have been missing a calendar in the kitchen so that is me done now.

Forgot to mention, we recieved our Commision check from Cafepress this week too. Paid it into the bank although it is going to be a few weeks for it to clear as the cash has to come from the States....Don't know if that means it is sent by carrier pigeon - I thought that with these days of computers and elctronic transfer it would would take the same wherever it was from.

Iiiiiiiiiiiiiiin One

It's so strange how these parties can be so different each time. You go to the same house with the same people for 8 hours yet it is never boring. Last night (This morning) found us playing darts.
The boys were playing when we arrived and they carried on playing all evening. It made it a little hard to do anything else but watch as the dart board is in the dining room and even going to the toilet you risk having a stray dart take your eye out. Slowly everyone there was sucked into it and even DD had a go.
It is so long since I played Darts properly and I am not sure it is something I should have been doing after drinking V&Cs for the previous 4 hours. I have to admit it was pretty hard to make out which of the 4 darts boards was the real one. I just chucked and hoped for the best. I think I did get it in a couple of times.

Then someone had the great idea to get the Bullseye game out. Honestly I have to say that everyone lost interest pretty quickly though as only 1 player in each team gets to throw the darts and the rest of the teams ended up disappearing. I decided to be Jim as I can never answer Questions and my darts proved to be pretty pants.

I think that I actually won the final game of Burma road. B-I-L had some pretty tough rounds in there but my saving round was the 3 different colours....Don't ask how but I managed a white; Green and Red!!!

It was a very late one though as we didn't get in until 4.30am....DD was late for her paper round again and I am sat here in a very bad state as we are back up to sis's today for a trip to Maccy Dees. I think it may be a bit quiet as we will all be feeling a bit rough LOL ;-)

And the winners are?....

A few years ago I would have been counting down the days until The Brits were on TV. On the night I would watch all the footage and record all the before and after show action...I even have all the tapes still stocked up in the loft.
I lost interest for a couple of years though. Music in Britain became stale...Every year the categories would be filled with the same old same old and there would be no imagination. I gave up watching it and didn't even bother listening out for the results.
This year though I was looking forward to the Awards - Just a pity I only got to see the first hour as I couldn't miss my other shows (Hotel Babylon BBC1 9PM; House Five 10PM)

It was great to see The Kaisers getting a couple of their awards and to see them open the show with a fantastic performance. Prince was a bit boring, he seemed to go on forever (As they are The Brits awards I really think that they should have all Brits performances)

I can never get over seeing James Blunt. As he walked up to accept his award, he just looked like some guy in the audience, or even a roadie who definitely shouldn't be front of house. Then when he speaks, his voice is so far removed from the way he looks and the way he sings that it is all a bit of a mind spin. I loved Beautiful and High but if he was going to release another single, I would go for the cover he did of Lemar's Justice on the Live lounge last week. It was so much better than Lemar and so different to his own stuff. (Sorry not a big Lemar fan)

I was very disappointed with Coldplay...I only really watched them to hear if he really did say Chris Moyles in the middle of the song...I am sure he did but I guess we will never know for sure. I didn't know the song and although Chris Martin is full of energy on stage it really helps to have some recognition of the songs.

Hopefully it will be repeated again so I can see it all the way through as I would love to see Paul Weller

Where did all my channels go

I rang NTL this morning to finally cancel the Movie channels that I was supposed to cancel straight away after Christmas. It is really ridiculous paying so much each month when I am only watching 2 or 3 movies each week so I decided it was about time. Only thing is, they have taken half my channels with them. I have rung twice so far to complain and they keep telling me that the channels will come back on within the hour...So if they are not back by tomorrow then I shall be ringing up again tomorrow with a complaint to the supervisor....It's alright for them, they didn't have to put up with stroppy kids who couldn't watch their fave programs this evening.

music be the food of love

Listening to Radio 1 has been heaven this week. From Saturday until Wednesday they were playing only British artists from the last 40 years. Taking you back in time with the likes of The Beatles; Rolling Stones; Queen; KLF even 5ive and Another level & Whitesnake was heard at some point. Loads of Oasis and Blur and Pulp and lots of acts you haven't heard for years.

It was all in the run up the the Brits Awards last night...A celebration of British Music if you will. Now its back to normal and you can see what utter crap the present playlistis, as now it is back to the American Rap claptrap that they insist on forcing on us 24/7.

I think that The Brits should launch their own radio/music TV channel That would be wonderful to listen to.

The worst time

So, I am lying in bed, it's 12pm, my nose is running my head throbbing and I'm coughing for England and the phone rings.
It is my bank. I am to have a payment go out today that is going to make me £4 overdrawn and if I don't pay some money in by 3.30, I will be charged £35.

I can hardly move, let alone walk into town to the bank (Let alone the sad fact that I have about £1.08 in my purse)

It's OK that nice lady on the phone telling me to get someone to go pay it in for me but I don't have anyone, my sister works in town but the opposite side to the bank and she would never get there and back in her half hour break (Besides I just got a text from her saying that she is broke too)

My last ditch attempt is to ask other sister if she can transfer enough from her bank to cover it. That is now done so hopefully I am covered.....I can confirm that I am now covered and can go back to bed!!!

What a marvel internet banking is!!!

Lovin the Monkeys

When I wrote this I thought that the Arctic Monkeys would be a One-hit wonder. However I have had the album on repeat today and I am totally in love with them now. Not to mention that they now have the fastest selling debut album of all-time!

I think a small part of the appeal is the total Northern sound to the songs. There is no pretention in there at all and I love it. It actually makes me feel home-sick for Sheffield especially in Red light indicates doors secured where they actually mention Hillbsorough where I lived for a while in the 90s.

I have also voted for them in the Breakthrough artist category in this weeks Brits...not least because if they actually win the Brit award, Noel Gallagher owes Jo Whiley £50!!!

Pongy tasting chocolates

You may have learned by now that I am not a big drinker. As my sister(A) said last night, I really have to be in the mood and it seems that last night was definitely a night that I was in the mood for a good booze up. Normally I am watching the clock and dying to get out of there but I couldn't believe it when it was approaching 3am and I was the last to leave (Alright there was D too but I needed to wait for her as I didn't have enough money for the cab)

I had decided to treat the kids to McDonald's on the way as we had some vouchers. 2 meals for £3.99 and buy 1 get 1 free Big Macs. With all my success with the Paul McKenna program, I was full after one Big Mac so I took the other one with me...(Had it for breakfast this morning)
By the time we reached the House the party was in full swing and packed to the rafters. Luckily I knew everyone there or I would have felt a little out of it.

The evening truly did whizz by. I was a little upset that my neice didn't want anything to do with me. I think it was a little overwhelming for her and she spent most the evening clinging to Mum or Dad.

I think I lost control on the food front at around 11pm...I didn't go mad but what I did have sent all my cravings mental. It was about 1am when I suddenly got the chocolate cravings. I had been offered chocolate earlier in the night but resisted so B-i-l found me choc biscuits (The adorable Rocky bar with caramel) He also brought out a box of irish cream truffles which the birthday girl decided she couldn't eat because they tasted pongy (hence the title)

I think I must have downed the entire bottle of Vodka that I took with me - may be due to having to drink out of a pint glass - When I got up this morning to get DD up for her paper round (7.30 am) I had the monster of hangovers. I went back to bed and didn't raise again till almost 1pm.
It must be that Vodka that is lethal....Another party next week, maybe I should change what I drink....

I know the story

Last week while my friend was up, we were chatting about TV and we both happened to say that we loved the series "V" from way back in the 80s.
I loved it so much that I even had the whole video collection so imagine my delight as we were flicking through the channels tonight to find it starting on the Sci-Fi channel!!!

DD said she found it a bit boring but I guess that is the 80s filming (The film was a bit dodgy as it has probably aged a bit) I am trying hard not to tell her what is to come but I think it does get better and better - Especially when the alien baby is born (Or should that be babies....)

So you know what I will be doing on Friday nights from now on

Today's movie

I know it's becoming a habit now.
I have joined the hobbling brigade - Been walking awkwardly for a couple of weeks as I have a horrible blister on my foot and that has taken its toll and the mucles in my calf and ankle have become very stiff and sore. It is easing up now and should be ok to walk to my sister's on Saturday but the last couple of days I have only just been able to walk to the kitchen and back so been stuck inside.

Anyway, on to today's movie.
A lovely RomCom which is my favourite kind, Perfect Strangers was a made for TV movie starring Rob Lowe (West Wing, St Elmo's fire) and Anna Friel (Brookside, Rogue Trader)
The best thing was these 2 good looking people and you knew they would get together in the end....*SIGH*

Another afternoon movie

This is becoming quite a habit.
Today it was The Librarian starring the very gorgeous Noah Wyle. I think they should make it into a TV series...I wanna see the Time travelling ninjas!!!

(Just looked and there is a sequel coming so looking forward to that)

Supermarket Drama

Stood in queue, local Lidl. Woman at front of queue asks cashier to wait for her to get all the shopping on the conveyer before she starts scanning it. Empties her trolley then waits for cashier to start packing it for her. Cashier explains that they don't do that in lidl....Woman walks out.

I always pick the wrong checkout!!!

Scooby Dooby Dooooo

Sometimes it is great to have your family over. It means that you can put off all the jobs you had planned to do and just sit down and relax.

This afternoon when my Sister came over, we were sat down and I was flicking through the Cable channels to find something entertaining to watch.

"Scooby Doo 2, I haven't seen this"
"Neither have I"

So we spent our afternoon slobbing on the sofa and watching this very humorous kids movie. Much more fun than vacuuming or scrubbing the kitchen sink.

Hostess with the mostess?

I have been very lucky in the past couple of years to have been looked after very well when I have travelled the country.

This weekend it was my turn to be hostess when a friend came up to stay for the weekend. Lots of Vodka and Chocolate was consumed. Lots of Alistair was watched and listened to...not much sleep was achieved though.

On Saturday we walked into town and treated the kids to All you can eat Pizza and Pasta and in the evening Dancing on Ice on TV and our favourite Griffin gigs on video.

I think the kids had a great time, spending most of the time playing their gameboys and exchanging games.

I only have one complaint about the whole weekend...It was too short and went way too Quickly!!!

Taxing stuff

I've been tagged, So here goes.....

Four Jobs I've had

Shop assistant in the many retail outlets at the American Adventure. This was fun work as each day you would go into work and be working in a different store in a different part of the park. We would see many hundreds of people in one day and of course once our shift was over, we got free rides *Big Grin*

Checkout girl at the coop. The hardest thing about this job was having to remember all the PLU codes (We didn't have scanners in them days)

Party hostess at McDonalds. This is one of the best jobs I have had. It meant I could be ridiculously silly and no one would bat an eyelid. It also meant that I could skive off a lot of the time.....

Food Bar assistant at a night club. I loved working in Roxys in Sheffield. I had never been in a club and been totally sober before so it was interesting to observe the drunken behaviour of strangers. I got to know the regulars and we had a different theme night each night. It also meant that we could get into all other local nightclubs for free.

Four movies I could watch over and over again.

10 Things I hate about you. I love all American Teen coming of age movies but this is one of my all-time faves. It might have something to do with being loosely based on the Taming of the Shrew or then again it might have something to do with the Gorgeous Heath Ledger.

Back to the Future 2. I love all the BTTF movies but I have to confess to liking this one the most...there is more fantasy and adventure in it.

Love Actually. It's one of those movies that, even though you know what's going to happen, you still can't help yourself hoping that it was all going to be alright in the end. The best part of it is in the Airport when Stacey comes back and gives Sam a kiss.

High Society Might be a weird choice considering the rest of my choices but the whole feel of this film is wonderful not to mention the classics Who wants to be a millionaire and Well did you evah. The Philadelphia story was the original but High society is miles better with the musical element.

Four places I have lived

A 2 bedroomed flat in a block over some shops. You walked in the front door to be greeted by the Kitchen and bathroom and went downstairs to the Living room and Bedrooms.

A 4 bedroomed flat with loads of rooms and more bathrooms over a Chinese take-away and hairdressers is Sinfin in Derby

A student Dorm type flat in Hillsborough Sheffield that had multiple rooms and one Kitchen and bathroom. Soon after I moved in the other residents moved out so I had the whole place to myself for about 6 months so it was great for having guests to stay and the laundry room was free too...

A little 2 bed flat in Ilkeston that had no heating and a broken window and a tiny little bath that we couldn't get into.

Four TV shows that I love

Lost....Has to be the top of the list. A year ago I had never heard of it yet now it dominates my life and I am still left with no answers after seeing the whole of the first season and half the second.

CSI..I could cheat but I won't and put all 3 mutations of this series in one answer. Miami/Las Vegas/New York..Love em all and they all have their own share of eye candy....

House Who would have thought that Hugh Lawrie would make a brilliant American Doctor. I love this show although it always has the same format. Patient comes in with mystery illness, they try lots of diagnoses, patient nearly dies then in the last 10 minutes mystery is solved and patient's life is saved.

Any kind of Property developing shows. Grand Designs, Property Ladder, Location Location Location, How to be a property developer, Homes under the hammer etc.....

Four places I have vacationed

Los Angeles when I was 10 years old. We stayed with relatives in Long Beach California for 3 weeks and all I can remember is the day we went to Disneyland it poured with rain the whole time.

Isle of Wight. My dad was a county Bowls player and we went on a tour of the Island with his team staying in a different hotel each night as my Dad's team played Bowls.

A little cottage in Cornwall cut off from the rest of society. My biggest memory was of my mum telling us we were going on a picnic so I got all my things together and went downstairs to find the picnic on the lounge floor.

Fuerteventura. Our first holiday abroad since my children were born. We went with my sister and her hubby and (then) 7 month old son. It was a great holiday slightly marred by the fact that we flew out the day after the Twin towers and so we were pretty uneasy about the airplane and the 4 hour flight.

Four of my favourite dishes.

Spag Bol...My own home made stuff

Roast Beef and all the trimmings. We don't have it enough as I just can't afford the beef these days.

Good old fashioned Fish and chips with Curry sauce from the local chippy.

Chicken...Anyway, anyhow I will eat chicken in any form it is served up.

Four sites I visit daily.

Griffinchat...I am admin so it is my duty

All the blogs mentioned in my sidebar

Cafepress.com

Uk Autograph collecting forum

Four places I would rather be right now.

Sitting in a pub somewhere drinking Ice Cold lager watching footie on the big screen.

On a beach somewhere - Anywhere that is warm and sunny with golden beaches and clear blue skies and gorgeous blue sea.

Living in some huge £million mansion in the gorgeous Derbyshire countryside

In bed!

Being totally lazy

As Corinne has pipped me to the post with todays entry, I am just going to direct you to DA as she puts it a lot better than me.

I was quite emotional myself when I heard the news...almost as emotional as I was when Take That split up.....

Super Derby, Super Rams

I haven't blogged about my team for a while as there has been no motivation to do so but feel I should say something now in this eventful week.

Our club is in complete disarray at the moment. There is a large movement of fans screaming board out and regular protests at games - Home and Away. Results are bad and we are in danger of being relegated to a lower league (Now named league 1 but still the 3rd division)

Yesterday I was trying to browse through my emails when one jumped out at me. Our manager has been sacked. He has only been there 7 months and now he is gone. He wasn't doing such a good job so no love lost really.

This evening we had a game against the team second from top. We knew it would be hard.
We lost 1-0.
However it doesn't feel like that. The team played well and it was only through the cheating, dirty tactics of the other side that we lost.
The line is still the same - Sack the Board / Board out but feelings have changed.
The fans seem more confident in the team and the team seem more confident in themselves....

COME ON EWE RAMS!!!!!

Target setting day again

They come round thick and fast now.
Today was a great one. I hate having to traispe all the way up there and wait around in corridoors but todays was well worth it.

If we were in the States, DS would be a straight *A* student and DD B's or B+ They have both reached most of their targets already and in some subject excelled them a term early.
I am very proud of my 2 wonderful children I don't think I could ask for much more out of them.

Chippy tea and chocolate to celebrate!!!!!

Things you thought you knew

Growing up, I always believed that the night I was born the weather was wet and stormy. My mother told me this and so I had to believe her as she must know. Another thing I always believed is that I was born at 11.15pm..I know this because my Mum said that I was due on the following day so I was only 45 minutes early.

However now I have been told that actually It was snowing on the night I was born. So much in fact that when my dad took my mum to the Hospital, they had to dig the car out and a lot of the roads were unusable. Apparently too, I was born at 10pm and not 11.15 as I had always believed.

Of course I can't really confirm or deny my Nan's information as my parents aren't around to ask.
So was my Mum so pre-occupied that her memories were somewhat distorted? Or is my Nan getting all confused in her old age?? I think more investigation is needed...I will report back........
