Missed call

I think that JK and Joel may have tried to ring me this morning.
Obviously I texted in to wish Joely a Happy Birthday at about 5am. At 5.45am I came downstairs to have a gander at the webcam and get myself a drink.
When I got back upstairs there was a missed call on my phone. Can't think of anyone else ringing me from an unknown number at 5.55am.

It was most probably for Andy's Basket/box/suitcase as they were having a problem getting any women calling in for it. I would have been rubbish on that, I am rubbish when I am not on the radio. Todays answers couldn't begin with a 'J'
They ended up with 2 blokes and it wasn't half as good as it would have been so I will always keep my phone with me from now on LOLOL!!!

It's Bank Holiday so that means a day out with the sisters.
It would be too boring to give a blow by blow (And I can't remember most of the details)

So here are the Highlights

  • BBQ Chicken grilled Panini
  • Having a conversation about Big Brother when I don't even watch it
  • Cherry VK
  • Discussing evil spirits and haunted pubs
  • Discussing the in and outs of staying for a night in a haunted cell
  • Remembering my own haunted house back in Sheffiled
  • Discussing evil neighbours and killjoys
  • Vodka and diet coke with a straw
  • Getting Minstrels from the chocolate machine
  • Spoilt dog in the pub following me round trying to get my Minstrels
  • Definitely NOT sharing my Minstrels with said spoilt dog
  • Playing Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway machine and being surprised at the trivial things I do know
  • Visiting the old local for the first time in years after it was recently re-opened
  • Not liking the place now it has been repainted
  • Realising the only reason I ever went to said pub was because I fancied one or other of the old landlords and missing seeing them again.
  • Arguing with Deb about DDs birthday
  • Sausage cobs when I got home - Haven't had sausage cobs for donkeys years...

Little water baby

Today I went into town to watch my gorgeous DN at his swimming lessons. He was so cute and a total natural in the water. It was wonderful cos he was smiling the whole time and although he did seem to be messing around a lot and not listening to the teacher, each time it was his turn, he did the task wonderfully.

Today was all about swimming on their backs. To start with they did what they called chicken wings where they had a float under each elbow and worked on the leg work. DN hardly seemed to blink an eye as he went, remembering to flick his feel and keep his belly button above the water.
The next task was to go again but with the float behind their heads. Then the next task was a lot harder to hold the float down on their knees. I think this would have done me but again DN was the best in the group.

It got harder as they started to work on the arms. There was a little girl in the group who was also smiling the whole way through the class but she was having the biggest problem co-ordinating her legs and arms. She was getting there though.

By the end of the class I almost wanted to go for a swim too. I really enjoyed it and I may make it a regular Saturday thing especially as DN is so great in the water and such a progression from how he hated it when he first started.

I don't quite know what to say...

Well I think I have to calm down...

The problem is that after 3 years of hyperactive forum action within the Griffin/Fox communities I have got into the habit of posting freely on all forums. I enjoy listening to JK and Joel and I love talking about them. No one around me enjoys listening to any of that though and so I thought the best place to do that would be a forum with like-minded people...Obviously the enthusiast in me can't help taking over.

This is an excerpt from this weeks Chart show newsletter (Which I still am not able to receive and Nik had to send it to me)

== MY NAME IS JOEL - THIS WEEK==

Most weeks the boys write a few words about what's
been going on in their world, to share with you, the loyal
Chart mailout readers. This week it's Joel's turn…

Sunday
After the chart show last week I was all excited
and went home and watched a wrestling pay-per-view
'WWE Judgement Day', which I am really honest was
not worth my £15.

Monday

Didn't get much sleep at all and I was back in work
at 3:30 on Monday morning. After our early breakfast
show at 7am I was looking forward to an amazing fry-up.
However the self proclaimed "Saviour of Radio 1" didn't
show up for his breakfast show so guess who had to carry on?
Yeah, it was JK and Joel @ Breakfast.

Having done the breakfast show for seven years on local
radio I know how knackering it is. However I have now
done two of the three things I want to do before I die.
I am not telling you the third and it has nothing to
do with Nadine from Girls Aloud.

Tuesday

Chris Moyles is back and there appears to have been
a communication error between Rachel (producer), Ben
(da boss) and Chris (saviour) and all is well in life...
well until lunchtime.

We were asked if we both wanted to catch up with Matt
Willis. However, JK couldn't make it because he was
having a cat flap put in his back door. This week's
poll then: Matt Willis or fitting a cat flap? Email
and let me know.

Went for a cheap meal in the evening at a place that
is part of a well known chain of restaurants. It is
the one that claims to have the stage outfits of the
band 'The Corrs' even though the white dress that
Andrea Corr is meant to have worn is massive...well it is a
size 8 and would have drowned her! (metaphorically)

Speaking of Miss Corr, who is stunning, we saw her at
the Sony Radio Awards and JK definitely reckons Andrea
was giving him the eye...yeah, whatever.

Wednesday

My mobile phone has been cut off - aaargh! Will explain
more soon.

I have discovered that we have a fan site www.jkandjoel.net.
Both Chris Moyles and Scott Mills have these sort of sites
with loads of members. Having a quick look at ours, think we
only have one member, a girl called Jembie and of course
Producer Phil under a different name.

That's my life so far this week. The life of a Radio 1 DJ!!

Having to write this means I haven't had time to come
up with a 'Top 5' this week. Soz all.

Now, when's my helicopter arriving to take me home?!

I think I would rather be noticed for the quality of my posts than the quantity of them though LOL!!

Technology, Schmechnology

It just shows how you can take something for granted...

My Tumble drier broke last week. It kept going round but never heated up. Of course it was on an evening when I had left it to the last minute to get DD's PE kit washed so she had to go without it at school the next day.

Anyway, A very nice repair man came Wednesday and fixed it for me, only it just lasted 2 hours before it went again. To say I was fuming was an understatement so yet again the lovely repairman came out today.

Now here is where It shows how much I take the Tumble drier for granted...It has been a lovely day today, perfect drying weather in fact but because I have let my garden go to the dogs, It is impossible for me to get out there and put the washing on the line (no line for a start) So the washing is again left damp and smelly in the basket.

It turns out the drier needs a bigger more expensive replacement part but luckily I won't have to pay for it..I just have to wait now for it to come and the repair man to get time to come fit it.

A weekend at the laundrette I guess it is for me!!!

Another new blog

I have started another blog.

I don't know if I have mentioned this before but I am a collector of Autographs. I have been collecting them for 23 years. Ever since I received this from Blue Peter when I was 13

In those 23 years I have acquired all manner of celebs and sporting stars. When I was younger it was mostly stars of kids TV and soaps but I branched out as I got older. I have some big Movie stars in my collection...John Travolta; Charlie Sheen; Woody Allen; Sir Alec Guinness; Josh Ackland; Sir Anthony Hopkins; Brenda Blethyn... I could go on all day really naming names. I managed all the Spice Girls Except Scary Spice Mel B and I only managed Gary Barlow from Take That. Pop Stars have always been the ones that eluded me the most. I have a lovely couple of signed pics of David and Victoria Beckham (I mentioned that in my last blog)

During the 90s I went through a phase of Premiership footballers. Anyone who has been to my house can vouch for that as they all adorn my dining room wall. I stopped after a while though as It wasn't as easy to get hold of the posters to send. I used to buy Match and Shoot magazine and send the posters from them to be signed but they changed their formats. Most of the players on the wall have either moved on from their club now or even retired (Except Robbie Fowler who has moved and gone back again)

So now I am in a new era of collecting and decided the easiest way to document my successes would be to blog them.

I can't be bothered to go through my entire collection and scan every single autograph I have so from time to time I will be adding some of my faves to the mix (Mostly when replies are slow) so keep checking back to have a look.

Captain Fantastic

Last night was a Captain Fantastic night. David Beckham and Robbie Williams.

I have a vague memory of sometime in 1998/1999 sitting in a pub in London after going down to Wembley to see an England friendly game. I can remember being sat there slagging off Becks.
It seems a lifetime since then. He went on to be England captain and everyone's hero. Even I openly admit to loving Beckham now. In fact I will go as far to say that The Beckhams are my idols. Hanging on the wall in front of me I have my prized possession which is a couple of signed pictures of David and Victoria in a frame.

Last night was a great Documentary about David Beckham. Tim Lovejoy spent 5 months with the man at the beginning of the year. It was a very relaxed interview, David obviously likes Lovejoy as he seemed very comfortable with him, as did Victoria. We got to see some of David's collection of cars, travelled round Madrid with David in the car, saw inside the Bernabeu stadium, learned about David's OCD, saw inside the new David Beckham academy and chatted to Victoria during a Real home game. I really enjoyed it and was disappointed that it was a one-off. I thought it was going to be a full series.

The other Captain Fantastic is Robbie Williams. He is currently captaining England in a special celebrity / Ex-pro game for Soccer Aid. He will lead out England against a Rest of the world team on Saturday but last night they played a practise game against a side of Ex-England players. I was really surprised at the level of the celebs in the team. Dean Lennox Kelly and Damian Lewis especially who have both recently starred in the BBC's Shakespeare retold series.
Amongst the ex-pros in the team are Graham Le Saux; John Barnes; David Seaman; Gazza and Jamie Redknapp who scored yesterday's goal.
Tonight the Rest of the world team will take on a team of ex-Scotland players. They seem to think that Ally McCoist will be a walkover but hey I have seen him play recently, he still has it!!

The games are being played at Craven Cottage and tickets are available for the public, you can find out about that on the Soccer Aid page

Anyone who isn't dead or from another plane of existence would do well to cover their ears right about now.

Last night one of my all-time favourite films was on. You would think that the amount of times I have seen this movie, I would be sick of it or at least have got it on DVD but no I haven't.
It is quite a long time since I last saw it though so I got really excited that it was on last night and I did manage to record it too so that I can watch it now whenever I want.
It's a shame that I fell asleep for the last half hour which is my fave bit.

Oh Sorry, the movie? DOGMA!
I saw it for the first time a few years ago and it was my first entry into the world of Kevin Smith along with my first introduction to the wonderful Jay and Silent Bob. After seeing this film I made it a point to get out and see other View Askew/ Kevin Smith creations. Mallrats is an excellent film as well as Chasing Amy Oh and there was Jay and Silent Bob strikes back too. Jay and Silent Bob also made an appearance in Scream 3 which I only saw recently.

Anyway back to the movie...Another great thing about Kevin Smith films is that they are bound to star Ben Afflek and or Matt Damon. In Dogma they play 2 fallen Angels (Loki the Angel of Death and Bartleby a Watcher) Who find a loophole to get them back into heaven. It also stars Alanis Morissette as God and Alan Rickman as the Metatron along with Chris Rock as Rufus the 13th apostle and Salma Hayek as Serendipity. I couldn't possibly forget the gorgeous (Pre-beard) Jason Lee too as Azrael. Jason is also another feature of all Kevin Smith movies.

There is one icky scene in the whole movie where our intrepid travellers (Jay and Bob the Prophets and Bethany the last zion) are in a bar and Azrael summons up the Shit monster. It is really horrible and I knew that I had to hide behind the cushion for that entire scene.

I was really looking forward to the end of the film though as that is my fave bit of the whole movie. The last half an hour is really the best

Bartleby: Ladies and gentlemen, you have been judged guilty of sinning against our almighty God, and I promise you, you shall pay for your trespasses, in blood!
[He rips open his shirt to reveal a silver breastplate]
Bartleby: Wings, now.
Loki: I'm feeling a little exposed here...
Bartleby: DO IT!

Good God! Is that the time?

Well after a week of having a lie-in until 6.30, I was up at 5 this morning with JK and Joel back on early breakfast.

I was very concerned that as I was hearing them on the radio, I couldn't actually see them on the webcam. Not sure what was happening, whether they were in a different studio or not but as I like to save all the webcam pics I was quite disappointed. I managed one pic with Joel

and one pic with JK (That's comedy Dave by the way)

I have pretty much got used to the format of the show and it seems to zip past these days meaning that before long it is time for me to get the kids up and then Moyles is on.

At 6.55am however, it was Dave on the other end of the mic saying that Chris wasn't in yet...Yesterday unfortunately Leeds united weren't premoted to the Premiership and so Mr Saviour had gone AWOL. Now they have done this before, Chris not being on time but he usually appears before the news. Today he didn't so the boys were asked to stay on (So why couldn't Dave do the show anyway?)

I have to say It was fantastic. You were expecting Moyles to turn up any minute or do some comedy skit pretending to be in a hotel/services/garage/corner shop etc... The team seemed to genuinely not know where he was and at 8.45 when I had to leave the house, JK and Joel were still on. They really seemed to gel with the rest of the Breakfast show team with a good raport with Comedy Dave and (apart from Joel's little mishap with the ramble) they did the usual material really well. I really enjoyed the whole show as it was a refreshing change.

It must be an indication of how involved I have become and indeed have let the boys get under my skin as I felt so proud when I read these comments on the ChrisMoyles.net forum.

Maybe from now on, next time Moyles is off, It will be JK and Joel in the Breakfast slot instead of Scott Mills. I certainly think they did themselves proud this morning!!

I don't think it will be a case of clipping the best bits...maybe just have to download the whole show!!!!!!

Hold on Rose, I'm coming to get you

I texted my friend Julie tonight after Dr Who and said "WOW WOW WOW!!" I was gobsmacked to tell the truth (Is it possible to be speechless by SMS?) This episode has to be the best so far. It wasn't a typical part 2 where the action happens in the last 10 minutes, it was Bang Bang Bang all the way...I am trying hard not to put spoilers in case you haven't seen it yet but WOW!!
SORRY IT'S IMPOSSIBLE TO NOT PUT SPOILERS...

I think I am falling for the young Mr Tennant too. He is perfect Doctor material. The facial expressions and the way he uses his vocal skills...I so hope that he stays on for at least a couple more series.

My favourite scene in the whole episode was in the Cybus factory when 'ole doctor was giving one of his excellent monologues...all the time he was speaking in code to Mickey "the idiot" who he was aware was watching through the CCTV. A great piece of writing and acting. I believe I even squealed in delight as Mickey triumphed in rescueing Rose and The Doctor.

I shed a tear at the end when Mickey announced he wasn't returning in the TARDIS...I can't believe that now when the character is just developing, they are taking him away. I was hoping that Andrew Hadyn Smith was going to join the travellers but instead Mickey joins him to save the (Parallel) universe from the Cybermen.

Celebrity 2-word tango

Well Friday started exceptionally well. (Before you ask no ASDA isn't sorted!!)
The Chris Moyles show must have been one of the funniest for ages (Certainly since OBW)

After the kids went off to school I decided to go lie in bed to listen to the last half of The Breakfast show. Not particularly to sleep but just because I couldn't be bothered to start working yet.
One of the funniest features that pops up from time to time is Celebrity 2-word tango. It is a game they nicked from Dick and Dom in da bungalow and is a perfect game for late night drinkers.
They play a little bit of music that has little gaps in it and the game is to say the celeb name in the gaps. Thing is as you go round, the music gets faster and faster and it is harder to think on your feet. You can't repeat what someone else says or you are out and if you fail to name someone that is the end of the game.

Today they were coming up with alternatives to Celebrity names. Chris decided he wanted to do certain topics. They had Footballers; Actors; Football grounds; Jeremy Kyle shows; famous horses.
I was laughing so hard that my sides and my face were hurting for the rest of the day not to mention the tears streaming down my face. I have just been listening again and now my face is really aching again...

You can get an idea of the game by looking on the Chrismoyles.net site for previous times that they have played the game.

More ASDA woes

The story is far from being over so click away if you are bored with it by now.

There is a new explanation being told to me now.
Apparently they haven't actually made a second charge to my card, they have just frozen it as a kind of security deposit until the charge for the order goes through then It will be released back to me in the next 7 days... Nice of them to let me know this then PRIOR to ordering. I am still not happy with this as I am still left with no money on my card and this is theft of my money without my consent. Plus the fact that it is a totally different explanation from the one I was given the day before.

Of course this was told to me yesterday and I was then told that they would look straight into hurrying it along and get back to me...24 hours later I am still waiting AGAIN!!!

ASDA are POOH!!!

I have been round in bloody circles today and I am not happy. I waited in all day again for this non-existant phone call then I started making calls myself. I went round and round in circles on the phones getting more and more angry at not getting anywhere. You know what it is like when you get passed from one operator to another.

I finally got a call from the illusive accounts department telling me all was sorted out. They have refunded the second charge along with the delivery charge as compensation...So happily I put the phone down and decided to ring up the card service to find out how long it will take for my balance to show this. Ha Ha, you know whats coming.............

The card company told me they haven't had any communication from Asda at all. Apparently all Asda have to do is ring the card company with the authorization code and my balance will be back up straight away...Well It took me BLOODY 2 days to get through to the accounts dept so I was damned if I was going to sit here on the phone all day again so I got up and went for a walk to cool down...Round 3 tomorrow Methinks

I have already written a letter of complaint to go off to Asda HQ!

Ooops Sunday

I thought I had blogged for Sunday but obviously I was too Mad to sit down and type...

Sunday started badly and just went downhill. I was very rudely awoken at about 9.30 am by the phone ringing. It was some woman from ASDA online telling me that unfortunately my order wasn't going to be delivered because of a malfunction on their system. For a start she was obviously ringing from some foreign call centre as she sounded like she was in the middle of the Ocean and I couldn't understand a bloody word she was saying. She didn't seem to understand me either as it didn't seem to matter what I was saying to her, she just carried on with her little script.

So, It's Sunday, I have no food in the house including catfood and no money in my purse either...Wonderful start don't you think.

So I wasn't in the best of moods all day. I had a row with DD which resulted in her stomping upstairs not to be seen again and although I tried to go on the computer there was absolutely nothing doing and no one to chat to...Billy no mates here.

I did watch the Soccer six competition...well sort of. I had it on with the sound down but kept missing bits of it so my coverage was a bit disjointed. I did perk up when I saw that Paul Peschisolido was on the team playing as Brazil which made me smile but he didn't actually play so that was pointless.

The ladies final consisted of England versus Brazil and of course Brazil won.
The mens final was England Vs Italy. Italy won that one but it was all good fun especially as they had Sven and Nancy lookalikes to present the medals and cups.

We ended up having Cheese and Ham toasties for tea in the end. The thing is they are so moorish but then we ran out of cheese LOL

I actually managed to start getting into Invasion too as it was actually exciting for a change...but then it is the penultimate episode so that is just so typical, I will be wanting to get advance copies of that next...

Footie, beer, nibbles, chocolate and some great live music.

I found out today just how much fun it can be to watch a good footie match with the sound down and the radio blaring in the background.

Saturdays sure are going to be a dreadful bore after today. It was the FA Cup Final between Liverpool and West Ham and it was also the 1st day of Radio 1's Big Weekend.

My plan was get up, turn on the radio and listen to Radio 1 all day.
Spoony followed by Vernon then Sara Cox and Jo Whiley and then Scott Mills and Trevor Nelson what more could you want on a Saturday?
I wasn't all that bothered 'bout the football as I was unaware that it was actually watchable...I am so used to missing all the good games by now on account of them always being on SKY TV. I was quite shocked when I picked up the listings mag to find that is was actually on the good 'ole BBC!!!
So change of plan slightly in that I would watch the match but turn off the commentary. It really worked.

It was a fantastic game...This morning Colin Murray correctly predicted it wouldn't be a game of no goals. Although the first was unfortunately an OG on Jamie Carraghers part. They kept coming and that is always the mark of a good game. Of course by the time 90 minutes arrived, It was 3-3 which meant extra time...after 30 minutes extra time it was still 3-3 which of course meant the dreaded Penalty shoot-out.
I hate it when games go to Pens as it makes the 2 hours they have already played totally worthless.
In the end though Liverpool were the victors and from the way I cheered and jumped up off the sofa it seems I was supporting Liverpool after all. It was a bit comical though to see most of the players from both teams hobbling off. OK, it may have been a long hard season but there is a World cup to prepare for in less than a month.

Along with the excellent footie served up, I also got to hear some live music courtesy of radio 1. A bit of the gorgeous Paolo Nutini singing his new single, Corinne Bailey Rae doing both her songs as well as the cover of Razorlight that she does, Orson and Gnarles Barclay. As well as loads of fun and interviews with various R1 DJs and performers and even Lorraine Kelly!!

Can't wait for day 2 tomorrow which will be the backdrop for the World cup Soccer sixes.

Today I grew up a little bit more...

Today I finally am able to join the rest of society.

One of my biggest bugbears for ages was my bank (After 6 years of my custom) still refusing to give me a debit card although my account stays in the black these days. Several times I have asked them very nicely (And then not so very nicely) to let me upgrade but the stupidest thing...You still have to be credit scored for a debit card...Even though you can only spend what you have in the account. My sister is also in the same boat as me and she is working in the very same job that she has been in now for the last 4 years and they still won't give her a debit card!!!

So you see this makes it very difficult for me (And Debz too) People are always saying "Why don't you do it online?" Well I could if there was a little slot maybe in the modem where you can post the cash to pay for it.

This always made it extra difficult when trying to organise going to gigs. I always had to rely on other people to book tickets and hotel rooms for me which is why I would get so upset when I was left out of plans as it meant I couldn't go as I couldn't do it for myself. It made me feel like a little child...In fact it has always made me feel like a second class citizen. Don't get me wrong, I love going Supermarket shopping but I never manage to get everything because of having to lug it all home...I can't imagine how much it would improve my life if I could just order a months worth of catfood from ASDA and have it delivered to my door (Now you think I am messing about? I am serious about the catfood!!)

So back to today. I finally received - In my hand - My very own Mastercard with the England flag on all ready to go out and spend spend SPEND!!!!
Of course, it isn't an actual Mastercard, It is a Pay as you go type card. For all intents and purposes it is a credit card but I have to keep it topped up to be able to use it. This means though that I don't get into debt as the money is already there. What it means most importantly now though is that I can do all my shopping online and when and if another gig comes up that I want to go to (Be it JK & Joel or Alistair Griffin...or any other artist for that matter) I can go online and book my own train tickets and hotel accommodation and I don't have to rely on anyone else!!!

Crazy Dreams

There is no school round here today as it is Target setting day, so I decided to have a lie-in and not get up to listen to the boys. I woke up at 5 as usual and put the radio on but I kept drifting in and out of sleep. This resulted in some pretty weird dreams as my consciousness took in what I was hearing on the radio and mixed it up with what was already inside my head.

The first one I can remember is me sitting on the doorstep of a shop. I am in my pyjamas and I am painting a toilet seat. As I am sat there Alistair Griffin's mum walks past me. She is wearing a fancy pink suit with a big fancy Ascot style hat...not sure where all this comes from...It's Middlesbrough's big Euro final tonight in Eindhoven. I can only imagine that all the talk on the newsbeat bulletins about the Boro brought to mind the Griffins. I would have preferred to be dreaming about the number 1 son...

The other dream I remember most clearly concerns Joel Ross and Flowers and Jo Whiley.
I remember listening to Chris Moyles saying something about Joel buying flowers and arranging them himself for his flat and there was a whole debate in the following half hour on the show about how Joel ticks all the boxes of being a gay guy apart from actually fancying guys. Then the discussion moved onto how Women just don't do the jobs they were made for (We will leave that I think as I neither like to iron or have a knack of arranging my own flowers)
I am really not sure what Jo whiley was doing in my dream as we were trying to kill each other Highlander style whilst chasing each other through a huge house.

Awards, Awards

Well today started with me checking out all the Pic agencies looking for photos from last night's Baftas. Just in case JK manged to get papped. After trawling through many of Suzanne on her own I found one or two of the couple together...

Then I decided that I can try to be a domestic goddess so I rolled up my sleeves and started scrubbing the fridge out as it has an awful smell emanating from it everytime i open the door...I also decided to wash the kids bed linen before it all started getting up and walking about by itself!!

So this evening, the bedding has been in the drier all day and by 9pm it still wasn't completely dry so I let the kids stay up and watch some of the Baftas on TV as I sit at the PC and watch the live streaming of the Sony Radio awards where Scott Mills is up for 2 awards and Chris Moyles is up for 1. I also know that JK and Joel are sitting on the front table (Cos they said so on the show this morning)
So I chatted on MSN whilst listening to the Baftas behind me and keeping an eye and an ear on the Sony's in front of me and also still trawling through all the picture sites to find more images.

I have to say that I felt overwhelmed when it was announced (By Katie Price) that Chris Moyles had won the Gold award. Nik was getting a bit hyper on the other end of my MSN connection and I could feel that a bucket of cold water was needed. I also did a little whoop when the cameras followed Chris and team to the stage lingering a few seconds on the Early breakfast boys as they stopped to shake his hand.
It was a great speech too by the Saviour...just a shame i didn't have the forsight to record it as the coverage that will be up on the site tomorrow will be heavily edited.

Can't wait to listen to the show in the morning...Maybe I should get to bed then...

Revenge never brings redemption

I finally got round to watching my DVD copy of Highlander - End Game
I have been wanting to watch it for the last 5 years and never got around to it but as I purchased it from eBay last month and today was such a boring day I thought the perfect opportunity had arrived.

Have I ever mentioned that I love Adrian Paul? Probably not but I do. Just like Bret Hart, he isn't my usual type at all. He is tall dark and handsome but extremely muscular. Gorgeous huge dark eyes though that you could just melt into...

Although DD and DS were around, I managed to lose myself totally in the movie and I cried when Duncan had to take Connor's head. I had watched all the behind the scenes stuff first but that was still a huge surprise and I could hardly contain myself (sorry if I spoilt that for you)

I am so back into HighLander now and I can't wait for the new movie - The Source to come to the Showcase. I know that it will do as DD brought me a card back the last time she was there.

There is an official Adrian Paul Website...Which I never knew about and he appears at various conventions from time to time...I have to get his autograph...Oh I do already have it but it is on the back of a photo and I got it from the fan club about 8 years ago so I would love an updated and personalised one...not a lot to ask is it really.

Just wanted to add...
NO FAIR, I WANT TO TOUR SCOTLAND WITH ADRIAN PAUL!!!!!!

Pouring rain and Strawberry Vodka

I don't think I entirely understood what tonight was all about.
Last week in the pub after the game Zoe and Ange were going on about drinks after swimming but I don't go swimming so I wasn't paying much attention. So when Ange asked me on MSN the other night if I was going I was a tad confused.

This afternoon, I had to take DS to town as his school shoes fell apart the other day and we needed to get him new ones. I planned to go to town then make our way to Ange's as it breaks up the journey (OK so we got the bus anyway) I wasn't happy when it started to pour with rain as soon as I was getting ready to go out though.

I was kind of under the impression that it was just going to be us and that it would be a few drinks in the afternoon. I hadn't set the DVD to record Dr Who as I kind of thought we would get to see it. I didn't think it was going to be a houseful of kids. It's lovely when it is just J, A and B, but it gets a bit stressful when there is a houseful of kids running riot. I can't even bare to think what J&A's room must look like this morning.

It was a really weird evening and the clock seemed to ticking really really slow...I was glad when Debz said she was knackered so I got her to ring a cab and we were home by 11.30pm
I think it is a mixture of my mood this past week added to the fact that it is Time of the month. I did manage to drink a whole bottle of strawberry vodka though..YUMMY

She's pretty in Pink

Friday night TV has become a non-event these days. It used to be that there would be some great comedy shows on and then end the eveing with an old movie, but not anymore.
Last night after EastEnders finished at 8.30pm I couldn't find anything to watch. I was flicking back and forwards through the channels until my fingers were sore. Then I came upon VH1 which had a program on called 100 greatest teen stars. I thought I would watch that a bit until My Name is Earl came on but I got into it and was enjoying the nostalgia so much that I watched it all the way to the end.

I really thought that Johnny Depp would be number 1, I must have missed him as they couldn't have missed him out of the 100 greatest teens. All the greats from the 80's were in there...Andrew McCarthy, Rob Lowe, Winona Ryder,Jason Bateman,Corey Haim & Corey Feldman, Matt Dylan, Will Smith, Ally Sheedy, Helen Slater, Jason Priestley, Shannon Doherty not to mention Michael J Fox and Tom Cruise.
I couldn't believe that all the time I have been watching the Dead Zone that Anthony Michael Hall who plays Johnny Smith is The same Anthony Michael Hall that played Brian in The Breakfast club. Mind you, to see how he has changed, you can probably forgive me for not noticing him...

There were a few recent teen stars in there too like Hilary Duff and Lyndsey Lohan and a few american sitcom stars from the 80s who I never heard of.

Of course the number 1 slot was given to Molly Rigwald of Pretty in Pink and The Breakfast club fame. Although TBC is one of my all-time fave movies, I never actually got around to seeing Pretty in Pink which is shocking if you imagine actually missing seeing another Andrew McCarthy movie!

Bits and bobs before bedtime

DD doing her Yr 9 SATs this week. She doesn't seemed phased by them at all, so why am I anxiously awaiting her arrival every home from school every night? Only to get no input to how it went at all.

After his amazing performance for the Rams team on Monday night, we seem to be in the middle of Psycho mania...Psycho for Manager I say!!!!

Have now built an entire section of my store around Chris Moyles and more importantly his Joel Gold feature.
I had given up but was goaded by this comment by producer Rachel on Tuesday's show
Right click and save as

Which resulted in I'm Well Chuffed
Listen Again to Tuesday's show to get it into perspective...

Tonight was the big England Vs Germany Legends game.
It was 2 teams made up of international legends and celebs...Not much to say really. England lost 4-2 to a cheating German side....Things never change

Stuart Pearce is a RAM!!!!

Just had to add this....Don't know who these pictures belong to so please forgive me but they have to be shared...

It's a funny ole game

Monday was a day we have been waiting for since November last year.
Former Derby County legend Ted McMinn (Tinman) was having a very special Charity Benefit match. You can read all about the game and the charity HERE. We were so excited about. So many fantastic ex-Derby players were booked to play. The most interesting of players I thought were the inclusion of Former FOREST players Nigel Clough and Stuart Pearce.

We met up with my sisters and Zoe at the pub which was quiet when we got there but as time went on, it filled with Rangers fan. To be honest I had got a bit scared walking to the pub as town was just full of Rangers fans everywhere you looked. There was no trouble, they were just having a good time but they were very noisy with it.

The pub got very rowdy. There was lots of singing from the scotsmen. In fact they just didn't stop. How could they possibly have so many football songs...I was beginning to see that they wouldn't be needing any half time entertainment in the ground - The Rangers supporters would be providing that.

I wasn't wrong. The whole of the away end was filled with the blue shirts and they had infiltrated the rest of the stadium too. In fast I was a bit worried as behind us there was a row of Glaswegians in blue shirts and kilts. They didn't stop singing from the minute they got in the ground.
As we got to our seats the legends were on the pitch training. We were desperately trying to identify all the players but from where we were it was very hard see well enough.

Once the game was in full swing, We were still legends spotting. It was definitely Shilts in goal and Deano Saunders up front with Stuart Pearce and Gary Rowett at the back.
However at half time the score was 2-1 to Derby but in a million years who would have thought the goals would be courtesy of the 2 ex-forest players, Nigel Clough scored the first and then Stuart Pearce came up with the second...He even went one step further and kissed the Ram on his shirt...Unfortunately I didn't get a pic of that but I expect it would be worth a lot of money if anyone did get one.

The other bit of entertainment on the pitch apart from the game itself was the linesman nearest to us. He obviously wanted to join in the party atmosphere as he swapped his flag at one point for a Union Jack.

He also put on a Rangers shirt

There were lots of those huge flags being passed around the crowd and lots of Mexican waves. I think either there was a problem in the PA studio or they were trying something different as they kept playing music out at various random times during the game...It was quite fun although not sure if it helped with the game much.

In the build up to the game on the day before Colin Gibson on Radio Derby had interviewed both Igor(IGOD) Stimac and Stefano Eranio. They both said that they would be lucky to play 5 or 10 minutes but it turned out that they played practically the whole game and didn't look tired at all.(In fact Igor did play the whole game)

The game ended 3-3. Ange specualted that maybe Ted would come out and score a pen for the winner but I think it was best finishing at 3-3...all peaceful

As soon as the final whistle went, Fans just ran on the pitch and mobbed the players. It took us a while to get down the stairs as there was a bit of a jam but when we did finally get down everyone wanted to go on the pitch.

Gotta have friends

I often get really maudling, going round moaning I have no friends, being miserable for one thing or another but last night proved that actually I do have some really good friends.

I was sat here working on my Cafepress stuff and chatting to Nik when the phone rang. I thought it was just my sister who has a habit of ringing when she is bored but as soon as I picked up I got all excited because it was Alistair on the other end singing Somethings going on. Awful as it may seem, I had forgotten all about the gig he was doing. I think I trained myself that If I can no longer go to these things then I have to put them out of my mind.
At that point I had no clue who my mystery caller was but I put the phone on handsfree so I could listen and type...(I had to give a running commentary to those on the forum that also couldn't get there)

It sounded fantastic for saying it was just coming from a mobile phone. I was getting goosebumps and cheering and clapping along with the rest of the crowd as if i had been transported there myself. I couldn't hear the talkie bits but his voice as always was stunning.

I was expecting just a couple of songs but was able to listen to the whole set.

So I just wanted to use this space to say a big THANK YOU!!!! to Gayle for including me in what seemed to be a very special night...even if there is still no word on the new band name.

Till next time XXXXXXX
